Texas Hold'em rules
Texas Hold’em is the most popular and the most played sort of poker in particular in its no-limit form, as played in the World Series of Poker (WSOP).
Even though it is theoretically possible to play up to 22 players, a table of 2 to 10 player will often be the limit. The aim is to earn money, even symbolically, by having the best hand or by making others folding. Texas Hold’em rules are easy to understand but as the saying goes: “it takes 3 minutes to learn Texas Hold’em but it takes a whole lifetime to eventually master it”.
Texas Hold’em is played from two to ten players with easy rules. The aim is to get the best five card combination using the two cards dealt per player and the five common cards.
Here is the course of the game:
- The Dealer. Cards are given from the dealer and this order changes clockwise after each hand. The player designated as dealer will be symbolised by a “D” button.
- Blinds. At the beginning of the game, the player on the left of the dealer places the Small Blind
- Dealing. Each player receives two cards, called Pocket Cards that he is the only one to see.
- Bet. After each player has receives his two pocket cards, there is a round of betting that started with the player on the left of the Big Blind. Hinging upon the action, a player can fold, check, call, raise or re-raise in the limits of the sort of game and in the limit of the table bids. A round of betting may make more than one go if there are many raise. A round ends when each player has put his last bet or has fold.
- The Flop. The first three community cards revealed, and followed by another round of betting
- The Turn. The fourth community card revealed and followed by a third round of betting.
- The River. The final community card dealt and is followed by a final round of betting.
- Showdown. Then, each remaining player reveals his cards and the best five card combinations (made with the 2 pocket cards and the 5 community cards) are compared. Sometimes, two players or more will have equal hands or the best possible combination will be to use the five pot cards. In that case, the players in question will share the pot. .
- Next hand. Next hand: After the pot has been given, the dealer button is given the next player on the left (clockwise) and the players on the left of the new dealer will put the blinds and the new game will start..
